Tired of trying different diets and exercise patterns to lose weight and still not losing an inch or a gram. Here's a healthy, safe and a nutritious diet plan that you can follow for excellent results within a week. This diet is similar yet different from the GM diet plan. I have tweeked it a little to make it easier and healthier. Just as a disclaimer : I'm not a dietician or a nutritionist. Just sharing my experience!!

This is a tried and tested diet plan by my husband and me. At first, I was a little apprehensive on dieting, but trust me this is something very different from the usual crash dieting. This ensures you get proper nutrients and your weight doesn't increase even if you start with your normal diet post this (as against crash dieting).

Besides helping you to lose 3-5kgs in a week, it also flushes out all the toxins from your body, thus detoxifying it, improving your digestive system and also leaves your skin glowing.

Diet Plan

Start each day with a warm glass of water with 2 tablespoons of honey and 3 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lime juice on an empty stomach. Fizzy drinks, bottled drinks, tea and coffee should be avoided on all days. A brisk walk of minimum 30 minutes each day after dinner is also recommended.

Day 1 - Fruit Diet

A fruit diet will help you detoxify the body as it speeds up the healing process and aids in weight loss. Include a lot of citrus fruits, apples, pears, oranges and watermelons, pomegranates in your diet. Avoid eating grapes and bananas as they are high in sugar content. There are no restrictions on the quantity, so eat until you feel full. Though this is a fruit plan, fruit juices are not allowed. To allow toxins to be flushed out from your body, you should consume atleast 10 glasses of water during the day. (This is the most difficult day out of all, as you get hungry soon and start hating fruits by the end of the day, but be patient and continue with the diet).

Day 2 - Veggies Diet

This day you are allowed to eat only vegetables - either raw or cooked. Vegetables can be consumed in the form of salads or boiled veggies seasoned with salt and pepper only. Ensure not to add any cheese, oil or any kind of fat. Try to include a lot of green leafy vegetables. Avoid potatoes. Soups are not allowed on this day. Again, there are no restrictions on the quantity of vegetables to be consumed. Eat as and when you are hungry and until full. Drink atleast 10 glasses of water.

Day 3 - Fruit and Veggies

This day you are allowed to consume as many fruits and vegetables as you want. But avoiding potatoes and any kind of fat like oil, cheese etc. Drink atleast 12 glasses of water.

Day 4 - Go Bananas

This day you consume only bananas and milk and 1 bowl of soup at the end of the day. Eat atleast 10 bananas and drink 3 glasses of milk throughout the day. For breakfast, banana milkshake can be considered as an option (obviously without sugar and any other ingredient apart from banana and milk). This is a tricky combination and suits only a few body structures. Like for my husband, his weight dropped drastically after this day, but for me, I stopped losing weight post this. So you will have to do a trial and error with this day. Soup can be prepared using tomatoes, onions, celery, carrots, lettuce, cabbage etc. Green chillies can be used to spice the soup. Salt and pepper can be added as well.

Day 5 - Cheat Day

Depending on body structures, most of them would have lost 2-3kgs before the beginning of this day. This day includes veggies, fruits and a small bowl of brown rice and a bowl of dal (pulses - any kind of dal can be made). Buttermilk can also be added to the diet. Again, no use of oil, butter etc. Tomatoes are a main ingredient today. Ensure you consume atleast 5 tomatoes by the end of the day. Drink atleast 14 glasses of water.

Day 6 - Getting back to normal

Continuing the same plan above, soup can be added additionally to the diet. Drink atleast 12 glasses of water. You can add a cup of green tea in this day.

Day 7 - Grand Finale

Continuing the same as previous day, you can include a glass of freshly squeezed juice (grape or orange).

This diet in itself is good enough for weight loss and maintaining your weight for the future. However, I would still suggest refraining from consuming refined sugar, white refined flour (Maida) and potatoes atleast for a month. Happy healthy dieting!!
